Features that good Nordic walking poles should have:
- They must absorb shock (not necessarily with an anti-shock system)
- They must be of the appropriate length, lightweight, and, very importantly, a proper grip
- They must enable walking with the correct Nordic walking technique.
- Other important features include: noise-reducing/knocking construction, high resistance to bending and breaking, long durability, a scratch- and impact-resistant outer surface, and an abrasion-resistant pole tip.
- Original Nordic walking poles are equipped with hand loops.
Each pole ends with a replaceable point/spike and a disc. Using appropriate attachments, such as rubber ones, and plates, the poles can be adjusted to various types of surfaces, such as soft terrain (grass, sand, snow) and hard terrain (asphalt, concrete, gravel). All attachments and tips are made of a material highly resistant to breakage and abrasion.
